Today is Christmas! All over the world, throughout numerous nations and across many cultures, people are enjoying a day of celebration. My own daughters are anxiously awaiting the day’s upcoming festivities with barely contained anticipation. It is a joyous time of year as families and friends join together in love and cheer. “Santa Claus” is a much awaited figure in many households on this particular Eve. For those of you who love history, I have compiled a few historical depictions of Santa. I thought you might enjoy looking at a few of the old portrayals of Santa which are now in the public domain… The American Santa [...] Remember…I told you that hot cocoa with marshmallows and whipped cream might be on the agenda? We have spent a lot of time in our footie pajamas this week while Daddy is off work for the holidays. The first Christmas after my husband and I were married, we had no ornaments for our Christmas tree. Since we were both students, we had no money to speak of and no real earning power, either. My father had allowed us to cut a small cedar tree from his farm, and we decided to select [...] “…drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows and whipped cream in my footie pajamas and my robe.” The following pictures are a recent gift that I have been working on. The poncho is made from glacier fleece which I purchased at my local fabric store. This works great for making a fringe, because it does not fray. I crocheted the flowers out of embroidery floss and mounted them with a button for [...] Some readers have expressed interest in the pattern that I used to crochet the pink chenille toddler hat. My Mother had created and written a pattern for a similar but slightly different hat. To make this hat, I modified her pattern to accommodate this bulky yarn. Of late, I have been working diligently on making handmade gifts for the holidays. One of my recent projects has been a crocheted hat made from fluffy pink chenille thread that is so incredibly soft. This pattern is so easy, and with this large thread and a very big needle, it takes only a short [...] I wanted to say a heartfelt and sincere Thank You to each and every one of you who visited Life Worth The Living and entered our giveaway contest.
